Shot Shell Sporting Clays is owned and operated by Colin and Leona Dixon. Shooting has always been in Colin’s blood and it inspired us to start this new venture. We look forward to each and every one of you coming and enjoying our hospitality and range. We hope to attract enough enthusiasm for the sport to enable us to regularly update and expand what we have to offer!!!

Colin, an avid sporting clays shooter has attended the 2011 Worlds in New Zealand placing 37th in the world that year. Other more recent shoots include NSCA events in San Antonio x2, Chicago x2, Florida x2, Arizona x3 and too many Canadian National appearances to count.

Growing up on a farm, Colin was a shooter at a young age. Originally shooting his .22 at quarters, not at 20 feet like many of the kids his age, but 100 yards as the stories are told. This progressed into what would be considered a hunting career not a hobby as there are very few species of wildlife in Canada that have not been captured by one of his rifles including antelope, Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep, and Mountain Goat.

As his passions in his 20’s shifted him towards game birds, ducks, geese and his favorite, pheasants, sporting clays were a natural fit. Friends tell stories of his old Baikal over-and-under which he managed to shoot till the hinges were so loose it was in dire need of replacement, and of many shooter in disbelief being outshot with inferior equipment in local and provincial shoots by someone half their age!

Bringing experience both nationally and internationally to his own range, Colin currently works at improving his shooting both mentally and out on the range. With a tradition of excellence he desires to shoot better himself as well as develop both a love for the sport and better shooters. He hopes to keep the challenge alive in all shooters with clays that will help build depth into any shooters tool box.
